Abstract: This paper focuses on landscape and its added-value in the construction of the territorial citizenship, key geographical education dimension. It is presented an innovative educative project, sustained in the project «Tejo River: Cultural Landscape» and in the associated Landscape Observatory, framed in the principles of the European Landscape Convention, that aims collecting information, as well as making protocols and partnerships between public institutions and local communities, linked to territorial governance policy. The paper consists of three pillars for action that intertwine and complement each other: a) positioning landscape in the context of geography; b) discuss the added value of the landscape in the construction of territorial citizenship and the teaching-learning of geography; c) present an educational project focusing on landscape and viewed in the context of school-municipality.
